Halflight released his stunning hypnotic new track ‘Call Back’ last Friday. Call Back features as the next installation to Viper Recordings “Acts of a Mad Man – Volume 2”. From the start, the track gives off electrifying vibes from it’s turbulent groove holding some bouncy, twisty, pulsating sounds.

It was only necessary that from a track like this, to find out what sparked the concept behind the madness. We asked Halflight what tracks brought him to create such a frenzied track. Here is what he had to say…

The Prodigy – Timebomb Zone

“Tracks like this were what brought me into the rave scene back in the early 90s (not that I’m old or anything…). As soon as I heard this Timebomb Zone it sent me right back to being that 10 year old kid listening to his uncle’s rave tapes and I just wanted to try and recreate that feeling again in my own music.”

Lock ‘N’ Load – Blow Ya Mind (Club Caviar Mix)

“Part of my want for this tune was to use a classic vocal sample that would be instantly recognisable and it doesn’t get much more classic or recognisable than this.”

Chase & Status – Retreat 2018 ft. Cutty Ranks

“This was more of a structural influence, I already had the vocal / pad intro, but felt the track needed an injection of energy before the drop. Sling in a rave stab and a crowd noise, job done.”

Dimension – UK

“I loved the rhythm on the drop of this one and wanted to create something with a similar feel.”

Rockwell – Detroit

“I wasn’t actually influenced by any particular track of Rockwell’s for “Call Back”, more just the vibe he creates in a lot of his work.”
